The Polytechnic University of the People's Republic of China and the Gongshu District Government of Hangzhou are committed to promoting industry-university-research cooperation and promoting the complementary and coordinated development of the two places.

On June 26, at the opening ceremony of 2023 Hong Kong,40 under 40 award Macao and Zhejiang Week and the theme Forum on cooperation between Zhejiang and Hong Kong, Mr. Li Jiachao, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr. Yi Lianhong, Secretary of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee, and Mr. Lu Shan, Vice Governor, witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation agreements between Hangzhou and Hong Kong.

At the opening ceremony of the "2023 Hong Kong,Gen. T List Macao and Zhejiang Week and the Zhejiang-Hong Kong Co-operative Learning Theme Education Forum", Zhejiang and Hong Kong signed a number of technical cooperation agreements.

Prof. Ruheng Zhao,Design talent award Vice President (R&D) of Polyu, and Jianjian Shen, Gongshu District, Hangzhou Government, People's Republic of China, signed a Framework Agreement on behalf of the two parties to promote the cooperation of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Hangzhou Institute of Technology Innovation (PolyU Hangzhou Institute). This is one of the key cooperation projects between Hangzhou and Hong Kong, aiming to carry out in-depth and effective industry-university-research cooperation.

In the initial stage of construction, PolyU Hangzhou Research Institute will set up three research centers, tentatively named "Rail Transit Intelligence Center," "Grand Canal Culture and Tourism Research Center," and "Mathematical Intelligence and Medical Beauty Research Center." The research Center will mainly carry out work in three key areas of technology research and development, enterprise incubation and personnel training, so as to promote the complementary advantages and coordinated development of Hangzhou and Hong Kong, promote the implementation of innovation plans and develop into a first-class scientific and technological innovation base, and achieve a win-win situation for both sides.

At the same venue, Professor Teng Jinguang, President of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Yu Zhihong, chairman of Zhejiang Communications Investment Group Co., LTD. (Zhejiang Trading Investment Group), signed a research cooperation agreement between Hong Kong and Zhejiang Province. The University of Science and Technology rail transit research team will cooperate with Zhejiang Communications Group in new products, new technology research and development, global promotion of innovative achievements, talent training and scientific research cooperation.

On 27 June, Mr. Song Xinjian, Second Inspector of Hangzhou Science and Technology Bureau, led leaders of several administrative regions (Qiantang District, Gongshu District, Yuhang District, High-tech Zone) and leaders of several enterprises to visit PolyU, visited the National Research Center for Rail Transit Electrification and Automation Engineering Technology (Hong Kong Branch) and the Biomaterials Laboratory. Learn more about PolyU's research talent strengths and innovative research technologies. The two sides also further discussed the work plan of the research team of the PolyU Hangzhou Research Institute and explored common opportunities for future collaboration.

The People's Representative of Hangzhou led a delegation to visit PolyU's National Rail Transit Electrification and Automation Control Engineering Information Technology Research Data Centre (Hong Kong Branch).

Looking ahead, PolyU will continue to focus on university-enterprise cooperation, maintain close ties with the Mainland, conduct influential scientific research in various cutting-edge areas of science and technology, promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and their integration into national development, and fully support Hong Kong's development as an international innovation and technology centre.
